The CLM Pro20 mobile ozone sanitiser has been tested by DARSA and the DTSL as part of a winning solution run by the SBRI, the Welsh Government and the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.
The tests were conducted at Porton Down under the Rapid Sanitising Technology for Ambulances initiative aimed at reducing the time taken to clean ambulances used to transport patients suspected of having COVID-19.
Position Statement: Rapid Sanitising Technology for Ambulances:
The Rapid Sanitising Technology for Ambulances was aimed at reducing the time taken to clean ambulances which have transported patients suspected of having COVID-19, in order to reduce strain and delay on a high-pressured and busy service. The project was a collaboration between the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Centre of Excellence, the Welsh Government, the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WAST), the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) and the Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL).
We reviewed over 200 applications and shortlisted twelve industry partners. The industry partners tested their solutions to see if they were effective for use against the spread of COVID-19 in an ambulance setting. The tests have only been conducted for the purposes of application in Welsh Emergency Ambulances (specific vehicle) and solutions may not be suitable for use in other ambulances or alternative environments.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, SBRI Centre of Excellence, Welsh Government, Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, Defence and Security Accelerator and the Defence and Security Technology Laboratory do not endorse any specific contractor. Any business/organisation that is interested in using rapid-sanitising technology will need to undertake its own testing, both ethical and quality assurance.
For further information about the use of rapid-sanitising technology in other settings please contact the CLM-Services team directly.
