New HHSRS Fines: Is Your Housing Stock Compliant?
With councils now able to fine landlords up to £7,000 for serious hazards, and the revised HHSRS categories in force from today, CLM are here to help…
Under powers coming into force this week, the fines will apply to 21 hazards assessed as the most dangerous, including faulty electrics, fire hazards, domestic hygiene, water supplies, and damp and mould.
CLM Services, the UK's leading critical asset provider to the Housing, Healthcare and Public Sectors, is helping landlords proactively, making sure they are not only compliant and meeting HHSRS requirements, but also the Decent Homes Standard.
Both domestic and communal laundry and kitchen equipment may be a smaller cog in the overall system, but they play an integral part in:
- Meeting standards and requirements in terms of facilities
- Maintaining fire safety
- Ensuring electrical safety
- Affirming correct ventilation
- Eliminating damp and mould
- Complying with domestic hygiene needs
Social housing providers have already been tasked by the Government with major challenges, and these changes under the Renters' Rights Act extend this further, with councils backed by an additional £41m to cover enforcement costs.
CLM Services are here to help, and can provide a FREE HHSRS + DHS Assessment — making certain that landlords are compliant and residents are safe.
