CLM Observe Global Recycling Day

The mission of Global Recycling Day, as set out by the Global Recycling Foundation, is twofold:

  1. To tell world leaders that recycling is simply too important not to be a global issue, and that a common, joined up approach to recycling is urgently needed.
  2. To ask people across the planet to think resource, not waste, when it comes to the goods around us – until this happens, we simply won’t award recycled goods the true value and repurpose they deserve.

CLM have been passionate about recycling from commencement of the business and sustainability, localism and environmental best practice has always been embedded in our DNA. Global Recycling Day, 18 th March 2023 highlights this but the practices are something we should follow, 24/7, 365 days a year.

These matters affect humanity with increased poverty, immigration from displaced communities, job losses, waste mountains and natural habitats disappearing. We all have the powers to make lasting changes and combat this, with recycling recognized as one of the ways we can improve. CLM are passionate on this subject and our business was founded upon ways we could help improve.

Please find just 5 of our tips to assist and make a difference……

Tip One
Recycle laundry detergent bottles
Once you have used your laundry detergent, don’t throw the bottles away, reuse the. There are numerous ways that you can do this including; make a watering can, flower pots, a bird feeder, or even weights to improve your fitness! You can even use your empty detergent bottle to store homemade or replacement detergents, just remember to fully rinse them out first.

Tip Two
Recycle dryer balls and sheets

Dryer balls and sheets are utilised to reduce drying times, something good for the environment and reducing energy usage, associated CO2’s and costs! As opposed to using single-use dryer balls and sheets, invest in reusable options and recycle. Initial costs may be slightly higher but will save you £’s in the long run and reduce energy consumption.

Tip Three
Recycle laundry baskets

Don’t toss those broken/damaged baskets into landfill, turn them into recycling containers to place your plastics, metals or paper recyclables in and carry to a recycling centre. Alternatively, use them as organising centres, to store anything that needs to be kept upright and organised from; cleaning materials, children’s toys or sports equipment. Further uses can include car boot tidies, to stop shopping or transported goods rolling around in the boot of your car……….. planters for vegetables, salads or herbs and even ornamental arrangements.

Tip Four
Recycle redundant commercial and domestic whitegoods

By utilising CLM for your replacement whitegoods, both commercial or domestic, you can rest assured that your up-lifted, legacy equipment will be recycled. Whether it be a washer drum recycled into a fire pit, a pcb repaired and reused or plastics re-purposed or sent for re- manufacturing, CLM will insure the most environmentally friendly solution.

Tip Five
Recycle your packaging

CLM, re-use, recycle and repurpose all of the packaging possible from day one of our business. Do the same! If you receive a box or parcel, retain it and utilise for when you need to send a package on. By doing this we can all reduce; CO2’s, reduce deforestation, reduce pollution and landfill, improve our environment, save energy and save costs.
